Inside Our Insect Facility
Veolia, through its subsidiary Entofood, is leading a pioneering bioconversion project in Malaysia to address food security and organic waste challenges. Launched in 2020, the Veolia Bioconversion Malaysia plant is the group’s first industrial-scale insect facility. Using the Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens), a harmless and efficient species, the plant transforms underutilized organic by-products from the food industry into high-quality insect protein, oil, and organic fertilizer. With a capacity of 3,000 tons per year, the fully certified facility operates under a zero-waste, circular economy model, serving as a key innovation hub for sustainable agriculture and resource recovery.
