PFAS | SINGAPORE REGULATION
Is Your Firefighting Foam Ready for 2026 New PFAS Regulations in Singapore?
Starting 1 January 2026, Singapore will phase out the import and use of fire-fighting foams containing PFAS compounds listed under the Stockholm Convention.
Only foams with concentrations below the following thresholds will be permitted:
• PFOA, its salts and related compounds: 25 ppb
• PFOS, its salts and related compounds: 10,000 ppb
• PFHxS, its salts and related compounds: 100 ppb
Companies exceeding these limits must engage NEA-licensed Toxic Industrial Waste Collectors (TIWCs) that are capable of collecting and disposing of such fire-fighting foams.
This regulatory shift, introduced by the National Environment Agency (NEA), marks a major step forward in Singapore’s environmental policy and creates an urgent need for compliant PFAS waste management solutions.
PFAS | VEOLIA SOLUTION
Veolia First Company to Implement Advanced PFAS Treatment in Singapore
In response to these regulations, Veolia Secures Singapore’s First License Granted by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for the treatment of firefighting foams containing PFAS, thanks to its global expertise as part of BeyondPFAS.
Industrial trials conducted at Veolia’s hazardous waste treatment facility in Singapore demonstrated a destruction and removal efficiency of up to 99.9999% for targeted PFAS, confirming the reliability of high-temperature thermal treatment.
This solution enables local industries to comply with the new regulations taking effect in 2026, while supporting Singapore’s broader depollution and sustainability objectives.
