Honouring World Biodiversity Day 2026
As we mark World Biodiversity Day on May 22nd, 2026, we celebrate the remarkable interconnectedness of nature that surrounds us every day. This year's theme reminds us that biodiversity is not confined to remote wilderness areas. It thrives in our communities, our workplaces, and within the operational footprint we share with countless species. At Veolia, we recognise that ecological health and industrial progress are not opposing forces, but rather partners in building a sustainable future for Asia and beyond.
Introducing the Biodiversity and Veolia Asia Edition
We are thrilled to launch this special edition showcasing the vibrant ecosystems flourishing within our managed sites across Southeast Asia. This publication brings together stunning photography from our staff's Asia Biodiversity Photo Competition alongside data from local ecologists, revealing the unique species that coexist alongside our operations.
Central to our vision is transforming our major sites worldwide into biodiversity reservoirs. Through dedicated action plans and ecological management of our land assets, we actively reduce three critical pressures on biodiversity: overuse of natural resources, including water, climate change, and pollution. Our commitment to decarbonization, depollution, and resource regeneration directly supports the preservation of natural environments: water, air, and soil. Whether you work onsite or visit our facilities, this guide invites you to observe, identify, and connect with nature, transforming your workspace into a place of discovery and environmental stewardship.
Capturing Nature Through Our Lens: Employee Photography from Southeast Asia
Our Southeast Asia teams brought fresh eyes and genuine curiosity to their workspaces, resulting in extraordinary wildlife moments captured during our internal photo competition. From an Oriental Forest Lizard calmly perched on a perimeter fence in Medan to damselflies gracefully navigating our halls in Pasuruan, these images tell a powerful story of coexistence. Each photograph, whether showcasing a camouflaged frog blending seamlessly into concrete or a prehistoric-looking reptile observing our industrial landscape, demonstrates nature's remarkable adaptability and resilience. These submissions are more than beautiful images; they are testaments to our commitment to respectful non-interference and our belief that making room for nature, wherever we work, is essential to our mission.
