Climate Impact : The Race Against Time to **Protect Vulnerable Lives** The urgency to minimize climate impact has reached unprecedented levels: humanity releases a staggering 50+ billion metric tons of CO2 annually, threatening the very fabric of our existence. This massive carbon footprint has placed 3.6 billion people - nearly half of the world's population - in positions of extreme vulnerability to climate-related disasters, including rising sea levels, extreme weather events, food insecurity, and water scarcity. Immediate action to decarbonize and adapt isn't just an option - it's essential for humanity's survival and well-being. #### **66%** **of people worldwide** believe that ecological inaction will cost more than action(1) #### \_\_\_ #### **5%** **to** **20%** **is the share of global GDP** represented by the cost of inaction on climate change(2) #### \_\_\_ **How We Address Climate Impacts?** The impacts of climate change touch every aspect of our lives, affecting our communities and the resilience of our services and business. As the leader in environmental services for water, waste and energy, we deliver practical, scalable solutions. Whether it’s addressing present challenges like water scarcity, keeping waste out of landfills and tracking energy usage, or tackling future concerns, our work prioritizes minimizing these impa **Ecological transformation in action** 15.2 million metric tons of GHG erased 14.5% reduction in scopes 1 and 2 GHG emissions compared to 2021 *(2024 data)* Dual **Impact** **Transforming Carbon Footprints** Veolia's decarbonization strategy operates on two powerful fronts: transforming its own operations to significantly reduce emissions while simultaneously enabling clients to achieve their carbon reduction goals. At our Singapore facility, we've pioneered a circular economy approach by converting hazardous waste into valuable energy resources. Through innovative incineration processes, we capture and convert waste heat into both electricity and steam, effectively turning industrial waste management into clean energy production. This dual-benefit solution not only ensures responsible hazardous waste treatment but also generates local, low-carbon energy, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable industrial solutions that balance operational efficiency with environmental stewardship.
